Last Tuesday, the AGSU Executive Team announced our fundraiser in support of Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins sans frontières Fundraiser. Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins sans frontières Fundraiser is an organization that is actively delivering medical supplies to hospitals and healthcare facilities in Gaza to address the pressing medical needs of the region.
To jumpstart our fundraiser, AGSU pledged an initial $1000 donation, and we are thrilled to announce that in less than a week, we have already surpassed our initial goal of $5000! The AGSU Executive Team would like to wholeheartedly thank all those who shared and donated to our fundraiser.
Let's keep the momentum going by sharing our fundraiser even further beyond our departmental community to continue supporting the invaluable work of Doctors Without Borders as they provide vital humanitarian aid in Gaza.
Together, as a community, we can make a significant impact on those in dire need. Your kindness and support are truly appreciated.

Dear AGSU Community.
As the AGSU Executive Committee, we wish to express our profound grief for the loss of lives and the enduring trauma resulting from the war in Gaza. The AGSU recognizes the deep impact that the war has had on our community. The AGSU is committed to supporting Palestinians and their allies in their pursuit of sovereignty, self-determination, and an end to the senseless loss of civilian lives. The AGSU also firmly stands with Jewish and Muslim students who are concerned about their personal safety given the rise in anti-Semitic and Islamophobic rhetoric and attacks both globally and on academic campuses.
The AGSU is committed to taking tangible actions, to aid those directly affected by the ongoing violence along the Gaza Strip. To that end, we are organizing a fundraiser to support Doctors Without Borders/Médecins sans frontières, an organization that is actively delivering medical supplies to hospitals and healthcare facilities in Gaza to address the pressing medical needs of the region. Doctors without Borders teams operate in three hospitals and multiple outpatient clinics in Gaza, offering comprehensive care to individuals dealing with burns and trauma. We urge you to contribute what you can to support humanitarian aid for those enduring the consequences of this conflict which you can do so here: http://action.msf.ca/goto/AGSUFundraiser2023. While we deeply value and appreciate monetary contributions, we also understand that many graduate students may face financial constraints that prevent them from making such donations. In light of this, we would like to emphasize several ways you can actively support this initiative. These include sharing our fundraiser with a wider audience beyond our community, persistently advocating for peaceful resolutions, and consistently making conscious efforts to educate ourselves about these issues. In this spirit of commitment, the AGSU executive committee unanimously voted to pledge a donation to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins sans frontières, amounting to $1000.
As we conclude this message, we want to reiterate our unwavering support for the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our members. We wholeheartedly encourage any student in need of support to reach out to the committee.
