Teach In: Overdose Crisis in Canada (Naloxone Training)

This teach in will cover the drug overdose crisis in Canada. In the early 2010's, drug users and health workers began noticing increasing of drug overdose in Canada caused by an increasingly toxic illicit drug supply. BC was the first province to declare a state of emergency in 2016, and since then the problem has only gotten worse. Tens of thousands of Canadians have died of drug overdose, a crisis that has largely affected the youngest and most marginalized members of our communities. Led by graduate students Louis Plottel and Marianna Reis, this teach-in will equip you with deeper knowledge about what has led to this public health crisis, government (in)action around it, and how to keep you and your communities safe. We will also be providing Naloxone kits and training for administering this potentially life-saving drug. This teach in will take place April 17th from 5:00 - 7:00pm in AP246. Register here
